Job Description

Our client is seeking a motivated Food Safety Scientist to join their team. This role is hands-on, offering the chance to strengthen skills in applied food microbiology, aseptic technique, and regulatory compliance. You will directly contribute to ensuring product safety, supporting investigations, and maintaining the highest standards in food quality.

Schedule: M-F, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (occasional Saturdays may be required)

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, log, and prepare product and environmental samples for microbiological analysis.
• Perform routine testing, including total plate count, yeast and mold, and lactic acid bacteria assays.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as incubators, autoclaves, and balances.
• Prepare media, reagents, and sterile supplies to laboratory standards.
• Accurately record results and observations in both laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
• Follow GLPs, GMPs, and safety protocols to protect sample integrity and ensure compliance.
• Support environmental monitoring and sanitation verification programs.
• Collaborate with team members to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation within the lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field.
• 1-2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of microbiology fundamentals and aseptic techniques.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment and safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays.
