This role is ideal for a project manager with a marketing background, who understands donor stewardship and enjoys organizing high-touch events that build lasting donor relationships.

This position will report to the Director of Development, and owns the full lifecycle of donor-facing content—ensuring that everything donors receive is compelling, accurate, timely, and aligned with Atlas Network’s voice and values. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and project manager who understands donor stewardship, values cross-team collaboration, and is energized by connecting directly with supporters to strengthen relationships and encourage giving.

This position is based in Arlington, VA , and in-person candidates are strongly preferred to foster collaboration across departments and facilitate live donor events. However, exceptional remote candidates with outstanding qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Communications & Content Strategy (50%)

  • Develop and maintain an evergreen donor communications and event calendar to ensure consistent engagement across all donor segments (small, mid-level, major, and legacy).
  • Serve as the final approver for all donor-facing content, ensuring messaging is compelling, consistent, and donor-centered.
  • Manage the direct mail program end-to-end—including list segmentation, production schedules, vendor coordination, testing, and performance analysis—to maximize donor retention and acquisition.
  • Personally draft or supervise the creation of other donor-facing content as needed:
  • Fundraising appeals (print and email)
  • Email series (including helping the CEO with Insider Updates and monthly Atlas Club Briefings)
  • Personalized stewardship messages and thank-you letters
  • Invitations and follow-ups for donor events
  • Tailor content to various donor types, ensuring that each segment receives mission-driven, relevant, and timely outreach.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to align tone, visuals, and messaging with the Development team’s goals.
  • Leverage data alongside the Director of Customer Acquisition to refine messaging and assess effectiveness of campaigns and communications.

Donor Outreach & Stewardship (25%)

  • Conduct proactive outreach to donors and VIPS as needed, and work alongside the Major Gifts Officer and Donor Operations Manager to cultivate, steward, and retain support current donors and prospects.
  • Respond to donor inquiries and ensure timely follow-up and good customer service.
  • Track touchpoints and relationship-building activity in Atlas Network’s CRM (Salesforce) to ensure a coordinated donor engagement approach.
  • Serve as a representative of the Development team at events and meetings with donors and partners.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Major Gifts, Prospect Research, Operations, and Executive Leadership to deliver a seamless donor experience.

Donor Event Planning & Execution (25%)

  • Plan and manage donor-focused events, including:
  • City Club events
  • Atlas Network Experiences
  • Exclusive donor experiences during Liberty Forum & Freedom Dinner (including major sponsors)
  • Oversee event logistics as needed - timelines, venues, guest lists, communications, and on-site coordination.
  • Work with the Major Gifts Officer and Director of Development to personalize experiences for key donors.
  • Collaborate with the Development Operations Manager to track attendance and report on event impact.
  • Prepare pre- and post-event communications that reinforce donor appreciation and deepen engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit donor relations, direct mail fundraising, communications, or related fields (experience in a leadership capacity preferred).
  • Proven track record managing direct mail campaigns and strategy.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and content strategy skills; ability to craft persuasive, donor-centered messages.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with donor CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and tracking multi-channel donor engagement.
  • Alignment with Atlas Network’s mission and commitment to advancing individual liberty and free enterprise.
  • Availability to travel domestically (and internationally, if required) for donor events and engagement.
  • Candidates must be based in the United States and eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Additional Information:

As a global organization, some domestic and international travel may be required. Atlas Network provides a competitive benefits package that includes three weeks of paid time off, retirement plan with employer match, health insurance, and commuter benefits.
